Lydie.cc - Who Am I?

I used local Stable Diffusion to modify my selfie to prevent deepfakes.

I'm Lydie. autistic mad scientist, elder millennial — Maryland is home. I work in renewable energy storage during the day and live in a 100% solar-powered house. Electric car, battery banks bigger than most people's appliance collection, net metering for the rest. The grid is optional.

I self-host everything that makes sense. Run local AI because I don't trust anyone else with my data. Collect vintage PCs — FreeDOS machines, DOS games — and honestly, the old stuff worked better. Also run a crowdfunded torrent server to keep public data alive before fascist political regimes get around to deleting it.

I reject corporate enshittification, cloud dependency, and subscription models. Right-to-repair is basic ownership. I use Mastodon and PeerTube because they're not owned by someone trying to extract rent from my attention. ACLU donor. Anti-fascist. Pro-trans rights. Not talking points — just where I am.

When I'm not doing that: vinyl (Taylor Swift, Pink Floyd, tons of others), high-voltage electronics, induction launchers, 3D-printing, cooking, cat care. Ask me about battery restoration or local AI config and I'll probably give you too much detail. Modern software is bloated. Vintage computing was more honest about what a machine should do.

The 80s was better.  Give me a Delorian and a one way ticket.
